I,-------------------------------------------------------------------,understand that by adopting ------------------------I am promising the cat (or cats) a safe, loving home for life. By signing this adoption contract, I agree that:
— I am adopting the cat(s) solely as a companion for myself and/or my immediate family.
— I will not sell, give away or otherwise dispose of the cat to any person(s), dealer, retailer, auction, institute or any other entity or abandon the cat for any reason.
— If, at a later date I am unable or unwilling to keep this cat(s), I agree to return it to the Howard County Cat Club. Under no circumstances, will I turn the cat in to a shelter or animal control facility that euthanizes animals.
— I agree that this cat(s) will not be euthanized immediately upon diagnosis if it develops feline leukemia or FIV because neither has to be an immediate death sentence. If I am unable to care for the cat, I will return it to the Howard County Cat Club.
— I will care for the cat in a humane and responsible manner and will provide it with clean and adequate shelter, fresh food and water, and veterinary care.
— I will provide a variety of scratching materials (scratching posts, pads) so the cat(s) can satisfy its natural need to groom its claws and stretch in an appropriate manner. I WILL NOT declaw this cat.
— I will make every effort to provide this cat with safe access to the outdoors.
— I understand that cats need a high protein diet and derive much of the moisture their bodies need from their food. I will NOT feed this cat(s) an exclusively dry food diet.
— I understand that cats adopted together are not to be separated. If I am unable to care for the cats, both will be returned to the Howard County Cat Club.
— This cat will wear a collar with identification tags or will be microchipped so it can be returned to me if lost.
— I understand that the Howard County Cat Club may reclaim this cat at any time, if the terms of this contract are broken or the club deems the cat’s living conditions unsatisfactory.
I understand and agree that the Howard County Cat Club makes no representations or warranties, expressed or implied, about the cat’s health or temperament and is hereby absolved from any liability for future damages or injuries caused by the cat. I also understand and agree that the Howard County Cat Club further gives no guarantees, expressed or implied, of the suitability of the cat to our family.
